Ethical Considerations in Long-Term Care (Webinar) – November 6, 2024

In this webinar session, practical information about ethics is provided from a clinical perspective.  Core ethical principles as they relate to health care and senior care are reviewed. This webinar will equip you with the essential principles and practical models to analyze and resolve the ethical dilemmas that can arise in senior care settings. The course applies models for analyzing and resolving ethical dilemmas in health care including CELIBATE, RIPS, and the Rest Four Component Model.  Through engaging case studies, you’ll gain the expertise to uphold the highest standards of care and meet your ethical obligations with confidence.

  • State basic principles of ethics and their application to legal responsibilities in health care.
  • Describe common ethical issues in health care, including that which is considered unethical and/or unlawful by credentialing boards.
  • Discuss the application of ethical models for analyzing and resolving ethical dilemmas in health care.

Social Workers, Nursing Home Administrators, CEOs, Nurse Leaders, Department Heads, and other staff needing to meet this ethics requirement.  Appropriate for nursing home, assisted living, home and community-based services, and adult day services.

Kathleen Weissberg, OTD, OTR/L, Education Director. Select Rehabilitation 

Kathleen Weissberg, in her more than 25 years of practice, has worked in long term care as a researcher/educator and has established various programs in nursing facilities including palliative care and end of life care, incontinence management, falls management and dementia care and staging. She currently provides continuing education support to 6,000 therapists nationwide as director of education for Select Rehabilitation. She has lectured nationally, at the state level, and authored publication on the topics such as patient satisfaction outcomes in long term care, restraint reduction and fall prevention, driving and the elderly, dementia management, palliative care, and hospital readmissions. She has presented at previous LeadingAge conferences for Georgia, South Carolina, Michigan, New York, and has authored articles for publication for LeadingAge Florida and Texas.
