CMS Updates to HIPAA: Ensuring Compliance with Electronic Submission

September 2 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Free – $99.00

Overview

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have revised the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to reduce non-electronic submission of supplemental documentation and to further protect the confidentiality of protected health information. Although the revisions have a two-year compliance period, all health care providers must be prepared to transmit electronic supporting documentation by May 2028. This webinar will review the updated HIPAA requirements and provide guidance to help health care providers understand the changes and take steps toward compliance.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the key revisions to HIPAA related to the electronic submission of supplemental documentation and CMS requirements.
  • Assess your organization’s current processes to determine readiness for electronic transmission of supporting documentation.
  • Apply practical strategies and best practices to support compliance with the updated HIPAA requirements.
