Deb has worked in acute care in both medical oncology and telemetry at a large academic medical center. \nDeb is board certified in infection prevention and control (CIC)\, long term care infection prevention and control (LTC-CIP)\, and ANCC certified in gerontological nursing. She is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). \nDeb is a grantee with Hektoen Institute and The Illinois Department of Public Health working with congregate care settings in Illinois. She works to find evidence-based\, cost-effective infection prevention strategies for long term care. She co-authored the APIC Infection Prevention in Long Term Care and is an author for the Multisociety guidance for infection prevention and control in nursing homes. Deb has been on working groups for other APIC toolkits and documents\, including the APIC LTC-CIP Review Course\, APIC/IPAC Ethical Infection Prevention and Control (EIPAC) Decision Making Framework\, and the AADNS/APIC Implementing the Use of Enhanced Barrier Precautions in Skilled LTC Nursing Facilities.

SUMMARY:Dementia Leadership Course
DESCRIPTION:For over 20 years\, LeadingAge Illinois and Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center have offered the Dementia Leadership Course\, a comprehensive educational series intended to provide Dementia Leaders with information they need to develop their skills and grow in their roles. \nDementia experts have recently re-designed this interactive program and added an ongoing networking component. The course provides a framework to teach the specialized skills and competencies needed to provide exceptional dementia services. \nUpon completion of the course\, participants will join the Dementia Leadership Network. Through a private forum\, the Network will offer resources and training material to use for staff education\, and allow participants to continue to interact\, connect\, share ideas\, and ask questions. \nTopics Include:\nLeadership and Dementia Care\nUpdate on Dementia\nAbility Centered Care\nRecognizing the Whole Person\nBeing an Expert in the Larger Community\nLiving with Dementia \nDate & Time\nAttendees will meet 4 times virtually via Zoom:\nNovember 18 & 20 and December 2 & 4\, 2026\n10:15 am – 2:15 pm each day \nWho Should Attend?\nDirectors of Alzheimer’s Special Care Units and Memory Care Programs\, Staff Educators\, Nurse Managers\, Therapists\, Social Workers\, Life Enrichments Directors\, Chaplains\, CNAs\, Home Care\, Adult Day Care\, Memory Care staff\, Dietary personnel\, and Administrators. Appropriate for skilled nursing\, assisted living\, and home and community-based services. \nCourse Requirements\nEach attendee must be logged into his/her own computer that has sound and video camera capabilities. \nFees\n$259 per person for all 4 sessions
